The farm owner of Santa Marta, Alejandro Garcia Villalobos, is one of the founding members of an alternative coffee trading company called Thrive. Thrive's goal is to create "farmer-direct specialty grade coffee". They see the collection of farmers they work with as business partners, with joint-business interests. Sustainability, traceability, and quality are the focal points of the organization. We have had regular direct communication with Alejandro, and have been able to learn about what techniques he uses to ensure sustainability for the environment, and how he has been able to provide us with coffee of outstanding quality.
